Materials for Sealing Lips

We manufacture lip seals using a wide range of premium teflons,polymers and elastomers, each selected based on operating conditions:

Teflon (PTFE) & Filled Grades

  • Virgin PTFE – Low friction, chemically inert, excellent in clean environments.
  • Glass-Filled PTFE – Increased wear resistance and reduced creep at high pressures.
  • Carbon-Filled PTFE – Enhanced thermal conductivity and improved dry-running performance.
  • Bronze-Filled PTFE – Excellent dimensional stability and high load capability.
  • Graphite-Filled PTFE – Superior dry-running and emergency operation capability.

High-Performance Elastomers

  • Nitrile (NBR) – Cost-effective, good resistance to oils and fuels, -30°C to +100°C.
  • Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR) – Superior strength, ozone resistance, -40°C to +150°C.
  • Fluoroelastomer (FKM / Viton®) – Exceptional chemical and heat resistance, -20°C to +200°C.
  • EPDM – Excellent resistance to water, steam, and brake fluids, -40°C to +150°C.
  • Silicone Rubber – Flexible at extreme low temperatures, -60°C to +200°C.
  • Polyurethane (AU / EU) – Excellent abrasion resistance, -30°C to +90°C, ideal for heavy-duty sealing.

High-Performance Polyurethanes.

  • OZ ULTRA® – Ultra-tough polyurethane with excellent tear and extrusion resistance. Perfect for hydraulic and pneumatic seals under high pressure.
  • ORSP® – Advanced abrasion-resistant polyurethane, designed for heavy-duty mining and earthmoving equipment. Long service life in dirty and abrasive conditions.
  • WIFFLON® – High hardness polyurethane with superior load capability, ideal for metal-cased lip seals requiring stability at high speeds and pressures.-
  • HPU® (High-Performance Polyurethane) – General-purpose premium polyurethane, combining elastic recovery, chemical resistance, and durability across multiple industries.
  • OZ PROFLEX – Specifically engineered for large-diameter seals, where flexibility and dimensional stability are critical.  Direct replacement for NBR (Nitrile rubber) – offering higher abrasion resistance, superior ozone/weathering resistance, and longer life span.

Pressure Ratings

Metal-cased lip seals from Oz Seals are engineered to handle a wide spectrum of pressure ranges:

  • Standard elastomer lip seals: up to 10 bar (145 psi) continuous.
  • Reinforced PTFE lip seals with back-up design: up to 40 bar (580 psi).
  • Specialized high-pressure PTFE seals: up to 100 bar (1450 psi) with correct support.
  • Dynamic rotary applications: engineered for stability under fluctuating pressures.

Speed Capabilities

Rotational and reciprocating speeds are critical factors for seal life. Oz Seals designs allow:

  • Elastomer Lip Seals (NBR, HNBR, FKM): up to 25 m/s (approx. 5000 fpm).
  • PTFE Lip Seals: up to 40 m/s (approx. 8000 fpm).
  • Special high-speed PTFE blends: up to 60 m/s with low friction and minimal wear.
  • Oscillating/Reciprocating Applications: engineered for millions of cycles with reduced heat build-up.
