The rod seal is one of the most critical sealing elements in any hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder, designed to withstand high operating pressures and prevent the escape of pressurised media into the environment. It seals the piston rod during both extension and retraction, ensuring only a minimal residual oil film remains on the rod surface. This thin film plays a vital role—providing corrosion protection for the rod and essential lubrication for both the rod seal’s sealing lip and the wiper.
